Seane’ and I knew we were called to the ministry since 2004, but had no idea of the specific call God had on our lives. However, we have been in active ministry since 2007. This was when I accepted my first position as a Ministry Assistant at Bethany Church in the children’s area. After several years on staff, in 2013, God spoke clearly that He called us to plant a church in New Orleans.
As we traveled to the city we felt the Holy Spirit compelling us to begin the work to see Connect Church become a reality. Our hope is that we can see a multi-cultural, Bible believing church planted in the New Orleans area that would bring a message of Hope, Healing and Restoration. We believe God loves the people of New Orleans and it is His desire that none perish, but come to know Him.
WHY NEW ORLEANS?
New Orleans is a city that we love. I was born, raised, and educated in the city. My wife and I met in the city, so we consider it home. Although we have not lived there for a number of years, our heart has never been far from it.
While in prayer, in 2009, the Lord spoke clearly as to what He called our family to do. His word to us was that He was sending us to New Orleans to plant a church. We believe that time is now. So we are embarking on the journey of church planting. The obvious question that many ask is why? Why New Orleans? Why another church? Why Now?
369,250 people reside in the city of New Orleans. That’s a big reason to plant a new church. The greater New Orleans metropolitan area boasts of a population of 1.1 million people.
Although the city has seen a decrease in crime and a robust retail boom, New Orleans has a long way to go. In 2013, 155 people were killed. 29% of the population lives in poverty, compared to the national average of 16%. Jail incarceration rates exceed both local and national averages.
So why go? Well, this is where God has called us to go. We are submitted to His perfect will and plan. He has given us a heart to bring a message Hope, Healing and Restoration to the city of New Orleans.
This may be called the city that “care forgot,” but it is in no way the city that Jesus has forgotten. Just as God’s heart was to show mercy to the people of Nineveh why not New Orleans.

WHY ANOTHER CHURCH?
Aren’t there enough churches in the city? Yes, there are many churches in the city and God has called Connect Church to be a link in the chain to see the Gospel proclaimed in the City of New Orleans. We believe that the church is to be equipped to serve the community.
New churches reach lost people for Christ and they in turn experience real change through the power of the Gospel. That is what Connect Church is all about.
Our heart is to bring a message of Hope, Healing and Restoration through the Gospel of Jesus Christ to New Orleans. We will be part of the change that our city needs. Most Importantly, this is something God has called us to. We must obey His call and direction for our lives.
